The purpose of the Small Business Assistance Program is to identify opportunities to assist small businesses in the Bayview-Hunters Point area to obtain contracts for and participate in other business opportunities at the Shipyard. The term "small business” means businesses located in and with a principal business address in the BVHP Area (94124, 94134, 94107) and has fewer than 50 employees.
For the first time in the history of the Bayview-Hunters Point community, Lennar has created a comprehensive directory of local small businesses to promote their goods and services. Lennar requires their contractors to use their best efforts to purchase no less than 20% of the dollar value of all of their Shipyard Project-related purchases from BVHP Area Small Businesses and encourages contractors and consultants to exceed this 20% requirement if possible.
To provide community contractors with career networking opportunities, Lennar hosts quarterly small business mixers and performs outreach to merchants and business associations.
