BVHP YMCA rebuilds community, one family at a time
The YMCA of San Francisco first began offering programs in the Bayview Hunters Point community through the Mission YMCA Branch, but within just one year, the Bayview-Hunters Point YMCA proudly opened its own facility in rented space in the Bayview Plaza on Third Street. In 2001, The Bayview Hunters Point YMCA moved to its current home at the former All Hallows Catholic School at 1601 Lane Street and has undergone its own revitalization with a massive building renovation reaching 12,000 people out of the neighborhood’s population of 33,000—touching more lives by far than any other organization serving the area. The executive Director and trusted Board of Managers share a passion to enhance and expand current programs, services and community partnerships to best meet the needs of the diverse and dynamic community the Bayview-Hunters Point YMCA serves.

We think Yelper Danny W says it best: I LOVE THE BAYVIEW HUNTERS POINT YMCA!
Bayview Hunters Point YMCA is a great place to be. This YMCA has many programs such as the TLC FRC (Family Resource Center), C.A.R.E. (Center of Academic Re-Entry), and many youth activities. Every time I walk into this YMCA, I see giant white smiles and greetings from staff members, asking how I’m doing today? How can I help you? It sure is wonderful to be greeted by a happy family.
They just recently remodeled the place, making it look extremely elegant. Their gym is in one entire room, making all machines to have easy access. Class sessions are held in their gymnasium, which is brand new, with an all purpose floor. There will be more changes to the inside this YMCA, I can’t wait to see it.
This place has changed significantly from what it used to be, there weren’t programs inside this Y, things have CHANGED! All thanks to Gina Fromer, Executive Director has certainly made this Bayview Hunters Point YMCA a better place for youth, adults, and families.
Thanks for letting me be a part of this FAMILY!
The Bayview-Hunters Point YMCA is a neighborhood beacon that supports people to meet their goals throughout life to strengthen spirit, mind and body.
