How can I find out more about the proposed updates and amendments to the SF Shipyard and Candlestick?

FivePoint is currently updating the land use plan and development program for The SF Shipyard.  As such, we are working with OCII to obtain all the necessary approvals so as to align with the proposed land use plan.

Why are we changing the plan?

FivePoint wants to:

  • Create a more integrated community by providing a greater mix of land uses
  • Incorporate best practices in green energy
  • Re-imagine parks and open space to accommodate a variety of activities including running, biking, sports & rec, relaxation, events and more
  • Increase the number of heritage buildings retained at The SF Shipyard

What are the main differences between the original 2010 plan and now?

FivePoint is providing opportunities for more:

  • Schools
  • A hotel site
  • Research and development
  • Retail/maker space program
  • Parks and open space
  • Adaptive re-use of existing buildings
  • Rebalancing the number of homes at The SF Shipyard and Candlestick

What is staying the same in the new plan?

  • No net increase in the total square footage approved in the 2010 Redevelopment Plan
  • Commitment to affordable housing
  • Backbone infrastructure

How much development is FivePoint allowed to do at the SF Shipyard?

The 2010 Hunters Point Shipyard Redevelopment Plan entitled up to 5 million square feet of research and development uses at The SF Shipyard.  The 2010 DDA only authorized the development of 3 million square feet of research and development.  The Environmental Impact Report that was prepared in 2010 looked at the impact of both options.

In 2017/18 FivePoint is seeking to develop up to 4,250,000 square feet of research and development uses, in addition to more retail, maker space and educational uses that were not originally contemplated.  In order to develop such uses, we need to amend the Redevelopment Plan and Disposition & Development Agreement to reflect our proposed development program and land use plan.

Future Meetings

As part of the current proposal to update the land use plan and associated agreements for The SF Shipyard, FivePoint will be presenting at various community forums and governmental agency meetings to inform the community and agencies of the proposed changes, answer questions and collect feedback.

Confirmed dates for community forums and public meetings are provided below:
